ACL Services was set up in 2016 by Paul Walton, a costs lawyer. Paul had spent his costing career largely working in the City for a well-known firm of independent costs draftsman (making his way through the ranks to equity partner). Paul has always liked working closely with his clients and felt setting up ACL Services provided an opportunity to better tailor the services offered. ACL Services like to think of themselves as approachable and knowledgeable. We are pragmatic to achieve the best results possible for our clients.

I have worked with Paul for many years. He has always got up to speed on my cases quickly, taking care to properly understand them so that he contributes in a directed and commercial way. In one long-running case, he stepped in, and out, as required. His contributions were of great value, literally, but also to the overall conduct of the case – all to the advantage of the principal client. I know I can rely on him.
I have worked with Paul Walton for over 20 years. He has an excellent reputation amongst fellow legal professionals. I use ACL’s services for dealing with all aspects of Bill preparation, costs budgeting, costs hearings and for providing costs related advice on retainer issues, offers and costs enforcement. The work is always delivered to the agreed timeline and the professional and personal approach leaves me feeling that I have obtained a bespoke client service, tailored to my client’s needs. I thoroughly enjoy working with Paul and his team – long may it continue!
There is nothing that Paul does not know about costs! All costs matters we send his way are always dealt with promptly and efficiently, and we are always pleased with the ultimate outcome. He is completely dependable, and always willing to help with any queries we have.
I have been instructing Paul for many years. The service ACL provide is truly excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend him to deal with all your costs matters. What makes him stand out for me is that he always makes himself available to deal with any queries over and above just preparing bills and budgets. He will always be my 'go to' costs lawyer.
Paul is a costs guru. If he doesn’t know it, it isn’t worth knowing. He is usually the only person at a CCMC who understands the budgets and can add up. Masters, trust him because he quickly demonstrates his knowledge of the detail and Defendants can’t keep up because he knows their budgets better than they do. He always sees the bigger picture – namely to secure the best budget we can. On Detailed Assessment hearings, he is focused, well prepared and pragmatic. The Cost Judges trust him because he is on top of the papers and knows the key issues. He is fun, hardworking, 100% reliable and always a sensible sounding board. I don’t think I could get through a CCMC or a DA without him…..
