We assist with all aspects of drafting in relation to costs, including drafting Statements of Costs for interlocutory hearings, Fast Track Trials and provisional/detailed assessments. For receiving parties, we draft Bills of Costs and Replies. For paying parties, we draft Points of Dispute.

We assist Claimants and Defendants in relation to all aspects of costs management, from preparing costs budgets and budget discussion reports to attending CCMCs. We also assist in revising costs budgets, including preparing Precedent Ts and attending hearings where permission to revise is sought.

We have 30 years’ experience of attending detailed assessments nationwide, both justifying and opposing. This has given us good insight into what to expect upon a detailed assessment.

We work with our clients to address costs issues that arise before, during and after litigation. We provide quantum advise and are happy to lead negotiations, including attending costs JSMs and mediations.

We assist in ensuring retainers, invoices and costs advice being given to a lay client are correct. For solicitors, we draft breakdowns in support of S&C charges and Replies. For lay clients (acting through solicitors), we draft Points of Dispute. We draft applications and attend S&C assessments nationwide.

Paul Walton is an accredited trainer with the Association of Costs Layers and provides seminars in relation to costs, including developments in rules and case law. It is mutually beneficial for us to work with our clients to establish best practices to assist in costs recovery/opposition at the end of the claim.
